The first game this weekend saw the undefeated Worcester Wolves take on the currently winless Manchester Giants. Will Creekmore would lead all scoring a double double of 24 points and 12 rebounds while also scoring 100% from the free throw line with 7/7. Manchester would finish with 4 players in double digits for points with David Aliu top scoring with 15. Worcester would start the game strong finishing the first quarter leading 24-16 before finishing the second half an impressive 24 points in front of the visiting Giants, with a half time score of 54-30. Manchester would rally back and win the 3rd quarter 19-15 and the final quarter would be the closest yet with Worcester edging 19-17. While it was always going to be tough for Manchester going up against the Wolves they played tough through-out and never gave up. BBP: Durham Wildcats: 'New coach can push us to the top'

The Durham Wildcats have changed their coach and enter their third BBL season under the guidance of Lee Davie. Davie has replaced David Elderkin who helped them achieve their BBL status and will be looking to build a successful squad. Alliances Manager Richard Warburton is hoping Davie is the right man to lead the Wildcats into the play-offs and beyond. He said: "Last season was a step forward, we won a bigger percentage of our games but we were a bit frustrated to miss out on the play-offs in the last few games." "We have a slightly stronger roster this season with a lot of player turnaround due to the fact we are based around the university here, we get a lot of post-graduate students from around the world." "The new coach has a lot of experience having managed in women's basketball and his current role with the GB U20 side." BBL Weekend Review

The BBL continued this weekend with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there was a shock or two to be had. Newcastle Eagles started the weekend top of the BBL ladder but suffered a shock defeat to Cheshire Phoenix on Friday. The loss makes it two defeats in a row following the BBL Trophy loss to the Worcester Wolves and gave Leicester Riders the chance to move up to the top with a two point lead. Leicester played the Manchester Giants on Saturday and sent a message to their ladder rivals with an impressive 84-59 victory. Both teams also had a Sunday game with Newcastle beating Plymouth Raiders 79-96 but the Riders would also win against Cheshire Phoenix to stay two points ahead. In the other weekend games, the Sheffield Sharks scored a victory over the Manchester Giants and the Mersey Tiger's losing streak continued with a loss to the Worcester Wolves on the Friday evening.
